Latest News
Since the last Newsletter back in December 2008, Charlestown Ltd has
settled into Watkin’s Yard, Hall Road, Eccleshill, Bradford. The top
floor of the offices is surplus to requirements at the moment, until
Charlestown Ltd has grown in line with the Business Plan.
We will be letting out this space on a short term lease. The fully
furnished 330ft2 office and the 120ft2 meeting
room/additional office are both air-conditioned with CAT6 structured
wired data installation, LG7 lighting and access control as well as the
usual facilities and secure parking.

Cooper Electrical Services
CES has been busy installing new distribution boards and sub-circuits
for a new bakery production line.
Matthew has been
managing a new lighting and power installation co-ordinating with the
main contractor who has been installing a mezzanine floor for a
pharmaceutical company.
Richard has been busy
managing a relocation of production facility for an engineering
manufacturer.

Charlestown Data and
Telecom Services
Ryan has had his hands full
co-ordinating optical fibre, CAT6, CAT5e and server room installations.
These projects have been carried out for Utilities, Agricultural,
Commercial, Industrial and Financials clients.

Technical Height Services
THS has been by far the
busiest area of works over the past six months. With over 165 site
visits and 30 fixed link microwave installations been completed in the
1.4 GHz to 23 GHz frequency bands. Dish / Antenna removals, Private
Mobile Radio, Telecontrol and Line of Sight surveys have all been
completed as well.

Festival Light Services
As you would expect FLS has
been quiet since February when all the lights, festoon, cross streets,
catenaries and illuminations have been dismantled and delivered back to
store. There they will be PAT tested and refurbished if required in
readiness for the “New Season”. Eye Bolt testing will start in late
August with catenaries and lights been installed in September.

General Information
Due to the increase in THS and FLS workloads
Charlestown Ltd has taken on a additional member of staff. Michael Binns
joins Charlestown Ltd with 10 years telecoms experience gained with the
RAF and in places such as Cyprus, Falkland Islands and bases closer to
home. Michael will be helping Phil co-ordinate and manage the increased
workload.

As well as Mick, we also have another addition to the Charlestown Staff,
Meg has joined Charlestown Ltd and has already proved her worth by
keeping the Bank Manager from “dropping in” since her arrival. Meg is a
7 month old Newfoundland puppy. Meg is Richard’s new dog, she has taken
the place of Wallace (Richard’s Collie cross who passed away in January
aged 16). March saw the Charlestown
team descend on the annual Marie Curie Daffodil Ball, a good time was
had by all, it was mentioned that the younger members of the team did
“brush up well”. Richard’s sister-in-law (Karrie) decided at the ball to
raise enough sponsorship to go to Jordan to walk to Petra. This
adventure requires Karrie to raise at least £2,200.00 By the end of
September, so far she has raised £1,850.00 from personal, corporate
donations, school raffles, bring and buy sales, tombola’s, coffee
mornings, tea parties and “tin rattling” at the local Supermarket. If
you feel you would like to contribute to this worthy cause please feel
free to donate whatever you can at;

After six years at the helm Richard and
Robert are looking at updating the company brochure. This will be
completed before the next “Connected”, please feel free to comment on
the updated brochure.
Charlestown Ltd has not
been exempt from the current recession, and has had to make some
difficult trading decisions, but the downturn will not last forever and
Charlestown Ltd is well placed to take advantage when trading conditions
improve.
Our next issue of
“Connected” will be out in September; which will be packed with news,
views and events. |
