Welcome to the Spring edition of 'Connected' the Charlestown Newsletter. We hope
there is something of interest for everyone in the Newsletter.
Latest News
It seems such a long time since
the last Newsletter was published. Christmas and New Year have come and
gone and we are looking forward to the spring and the lighter evenings.
Festival Light Services
Festival Light Services have been exceptionally busy in early January
and all the Festive lights are back in storage or at Festival Lights
www.festival-lights.com being refurbished and PAT tested in
preparation for this year’s season.

Charlestown Ltd is looking to increase its market share in the Festival
Light Installation Season for 2007-2008 with a target of 30 individual
projects.
Cooper Electrical Services
Cooper Electrical
Services has started the New Year with a major project in the centre of
Bradford as part of the City Centre Regeneration Scheme. This
refurbishment project is in two phases with an initial phase being 14
apartments and the second phase of 30 new build apartments. CES is
handling the complete electrical design and installation.
CES continues to provide services to a major regional beverage
production company.

CES has also been busy carry-out dust extraction, DC, commercial and
industrial installations.
Technical Height Services
PEG 04
Technical Height Services has been busy due to the high price of copper.
At the time of writing THS has replaced 22 remote radio site copper
lightning conductor installations. On some sites the installations have
been replaced 3 times. A new installation specification has been
implemented which involves using “one use” hammer fixings through the
copper tape at 300m intervals and protecting the tape with Galvanized
metal capping.

THS has also been busy in the mild weather carrying out Line of Sight
Surveys, microwave dish replacements, link installations on both towers
and buildings.
THS is due to start the annual remote radio site maintenance on the 85
sites.
Charlestown Data and Telecom Services
Charlestown Data and Telecom Services have been extremely busy with two
teams working permanent nights on a large copper and fibre upgrade
project. This project has just been completed with over 2,500 certified
CAT5e structure wired points and multiple 8 core to 48 core Multimode
Fibre Optic connections, spread over three locations. The work had to be
completed out of hours to enable the client to carry-out “business as
usual” during the upgrades. This work had to be completed before the
deployment of a multi-million pound hardware upgrade company wide.

CDTS has also been busy installing a CAT6 installation in a major
regional beverage production company, as well as data and power moves
and changes for a major financial institution.
CDTS is also carrying office data and electrical refurbishment works in
North Yorkshire for a Government Department.
Health & Safety/Personnel
Charlestown has undertaken its annual staff development reviews, which
are a useful tool for all parties to air their views and demonstrate
commitment.

The following courses have been identified and booked; the courses
include CSCS Safety Certification for all staff. PASMA (Scaffolding)
courses have been identified for a number of staff and Substation
Authorisation courses as well as Climbing Refresher courses.
All staff will also attend a Health and Safety / Risk Assessment
refresher course.
The staff development reviews have also highlighted areas of work that
staff wish to develop and this has been included in the forward planning
for the coming year.
Charlestown Ltd has also acquired a piece of land in the Eccleshill area
of Bradford. Plans are being drawn up to build a purpose built
office/workshop with secure parking. This development reinforces
Charlestown’s commitment to its long-term strategic plans.
The
Usual Suspects...
On a lighter note management, staff & guests enjoyed an eventful night
of dining, dancing and fundraising at the Marie Curie Daffodil Ball held
at the Cedar Court Bradford. As can be seen, a good time was had
by all!

Our next issue of “Connected” will be out in
June, which will, as always, be
packed with news, views and events!
