Why should I use Charlestown Ltd?

Charlestown Limited has the management systems in place too not only provide the following practical Festival light services but the following management controls to ensure safe, effective control of the project. Comprehensive Health & Safety Policy, a bespoke job tracking system, full office administration back up and Project Planning / scheduling tools are employed to make sure project are managed safely and effectively.

What Accreditations does Charlestown Ltd hold?

The above management controls are reinforced with our CHAS (Council Health & Safety Assessment Scheme), IIP (Investors in People), ISO9001, Constructionline, UVDB (Utilities Vendor Database) and NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors) accreditations.

What are the safe methods for working at height?

The construction (health, safety and welfare) regulations 1996 provide a hierarchy of measures (Regulation 6). 

Firstly, prevent all fall hazards "so far as reasonably practible" - if this is not possible, install guard rails, toe-boards, barriers, etc. and working platforms.

Then, if this is not "reasonably practicable", provide personal suspension equipment that complies to schedule 3.  Finally, if all of the above are not " reasonably practicable", fall arrest equipment should be provided that complies to schedule 4.

All the above methods of risk reduction really heavily on training and all Technical Height Services (THS) staff are trained to the levels required to enable staff to carry out their roles effectively.

Can Charlestown Ltd work in Street Lighting columns?

Charlestown Ltd staff have been trained and certified to work in street lighting columns. Staff hold the G39 certification.

What Working at Height qualifications do Charlestown Ltd Staff hold?

Charlestown staff hold various working at height qualifications including IPAF (International Powered Access Federation), Rope Access Supervisor, Rope Access Technician, Climbing – Rescue Certification, Tower Climbing and Roof top Access certification.

6What Safety Measures does Charlestown Ltd use?

Charlestown Ltd carries out Risk Assessments and produces Methods Statements for each project. The nominated “team leader” will also carry out a “on-site” risk assessment before each “shift”, this will then be signed by all team members. This risk assessment takes into account all local, environmental and task specific issues.

Can Charlestown Ltd provide a complete package?

Charlestown Ltd works closely with Festival Lights (www.festival-lights.com ) to provide a complete design supply and installation package.

Can Charlestown test and store decorations whilst not in use?

Charlestown Ltd does not store decorations. Festival Lights will only be too happy to offer this service. As well as storing decorations, Festival Lights will repair, recondition, modify and test decorations in preparation for installation.

Do lights and decorations require PAT (Portable Appliance Testing)?

Features, lights and decorations are classed as portable (they are plugged in) and as such require PAT testing. Festival Lights are only too happy to offer this service.

Lighting Switch-on

 

Charlestown Ltd can assist with all aspects of the lighting installation even down to providing personnel to co-ordinate the “switch-on”.

The only aspect Charlestown cannot help with is arranging the 'Celebrity' to carry out the switch-on...
